Verdict and Maximum Punishments | US v Pfc. Manning

On July 30, 2013 Col. Denise Lind found Pfc. Bradley* Manning guilty of 20 offenses of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, which included six violations of the Espionage Act; five offenses of stealing U.S….. Government Property; and one violation the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. Manning faces up to 136 years in a military prison, dishonorable discharge; and forfeiture of all pay and allowances.

On August 6, 2013 Col. Denise Lind reduced Manning’s overall maximum exposure from 136 years to 90 years, based on her ruling on three defense motions to merge specifications of findings and for the unfair multiplication of charges for sentencing purposes. Lind denied the defense motion to merge specification for findings, but did combine some specifications for sentencing purposes. See first table below.

On August 21, 2013, Lind sentenced Manning to 35 years in prison.
